Keychron Expands Gaming Mouse Lineup with the New G3 Series
Keychron, widely recognized for its innovative mechanical and Hall Effect (HE) keyboards, has steadily gained traction in the gaming mouse market with releases like the M6 8K and M7 8K. Building on this momentum, Keychron has introduced the Keychron G3, an ultra-lightweight gaming mouse designed for right-handed users. The G3 stands out with its symmetrical shape and offers two distinct shell options: a carbon fiber top paired with an ABS base, or a translucent polycarbonate (PC) top with an ABS bottom.
Design and Build Options
Both the carbon fiber and translucent PC versions of the Keychron G3 share identical dimensions, weight, and internal components. This ensures that users can select their preferred aesthetic without compromising on performance or battery life. The translucent PC model features a lightly textured, see-through shell with light purple buttons and a matching purple scroll wheel, while the carbon fiber variant sports a matte black finish, accented by a bright orange scroll wheel and side buttons. The carbon fiber version also includes a subtle embossed waves-and-smoke pattern for added visual appeal.
Advanced Sensor and Connectivity
At the heart of the Keychron G3 is the PixArt 3950 sensor, supporting an impressive 8 kHz polling rate for ultra-responsive tracking. The mouse offers tri-mode wireless connectivity, allowing users to switch between 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C wired modes. Powering the G3 is a 500 mAh battery, which Keychron claims can deliver up to 160 hours of use on a single charge. While the exact testing conditions for battery life have not been specified, it is typical for manufacturers to estimate battery longevity based on Bluetooth or 2.4 GHz usage at a 1,000 Hz polling rate.
Durable Switches and Ergonomic Shape
The Keychron G3 is equipped with mechanical Huano Transparent Shell White Dot micro switches for the main buttons, rated for an impressive 120 million clicks. This is a notable upgrade from the Huano Transparent Blue Shell Pink Dot switches found in previous Keychron models, which were rated for 80 million clicks. The G3’s shape draws inspiration from popular models such as the Endgame Gear OP1, Pulsar X2 CrazyLight Medium, and VXE R1 series. Measuring 120 × 63 × 38.8 mm, the G3 is slightly longer and wider than many similar mice, featuring a mid-to-rear hump that supports a variety of grip styles.
Pricing and Availability
The Keychron G3 is available through the official Keychron web store, with the translucent polycarbonate version priced at $84.99 and the carbon fiber edition at $109.99. Both models deliver the same high-performance features, allowing gamers to choose based on their preferred look and feel.
