According to an interview with ASML's Global Vice President and China President, Shen Bo, conducted by TMTPost, the Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer has disclosed that there are currently approximately 1,400 of its deep ultraviolet (DUV) lithography and metrology machines installed in China. By the end of 2025, the company aims to produce a total of 600 DUV equipment units worldwide. Shen Bo stated that ASML plans to install 500-600 units of DUV machinery in China by late 2025 or early 2026. Notably, ASML's revenues from China experienced significant growth, with China contributing 46% of the company's system sales in the third quarter of 2023, resulting in an 82% increase in revenue compared to the previous quarter.
China has plans to construct 25 12-inch wafer fabs within the next five years, which will cover logic wafers, DRAM, and MEMS production. ASML currently has a strong presence in China, with 16 offices, 12 warehouses, distribution centers, development centers, training centers, and maintenance centers. The company employs over 1,600 individuals for its operations in China. Despite the export restrictions imposed by the US government, ASML expects that these new measures will have minimal impact on its financial outlook for 2023, as it strives to meet the increasing demand for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in the global market.
